Client risk assessments are a core part of AML compliance. But for many firms, they can still involve a lot of manual interpretation, inconsistent scoring, and time-consuming review.

We’ve released Risk Scoring in Firmcheck to help firms make client risk assessments faster, more consistent, and easier to evidence.

What’s new?

With Risk Scoring enabled, your firm can embed its risk methodology directly into your workflow:

  • Score Weightings: Add specific numerical weights to each question in your risk assessment templates.
  • Risk Thresholds: Define clear scoring boundaries for low, medium/normal, or high-risk levels.
  • Automated Suggestions: When an assessment is completed, Firmcheck calculates the score automatically and displays a suggested risk level.

This gives teams a clearer, more structured framework to assess client risk, whilst still allowing professionals to apply their final judgment where needed.

Why it matters

AML teams are under pressure to keep processes robust, consistent, and well-documented - whilst also reducing unnecessary admin.

Risk assessments are a prime example of this challenge. Firms must prove that their risk levels are based on a clear, objective methodology, but the process shouldn't rely on individuals manually calculating every response from scratch.

Risk Scoring helps firms build their exact risk methodology directly into their Firmcheck templates. This ensures teams assess risk in a repeatable way, reduces manual data entry, and keeps a clearer audit trail of how each risk level was reached.

How Risk Scoring helps your firm

  • Streamline workflows: Speed up the calculation of risk assessment answers without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Greater consistency: Apply a standardised approach across different teams, offices, and client types.
  • Audit-ready records: Create a clear, transparent record of how each client risk level was calculated.
  • Future-proof templates: Easily adapt your scoring and templates as AML expectations and internal policies evolve.

Built around Firmcheck’s north star

At Firmcheck, our north star is reducing AML admin time whilst helping firms stay confident, consistent, and audit-ready.

Risk Scoring is another step towards that goal. It helps firms move away from completely manual, subjective processes, and towards a structured approach that is easier to manage, review, and evidence.
